Our Story

Where Elegance Meets Nature's Tranquility

How It All Started

Back in 2007, Isabella and Marcus Chen were on a hiking trip through Whistler when they stumbled upon this incredible piece of land. They'd been talking about leaving their corporate jobs for years - she was in finance, he was an architect - and something about that moment just clicked. The way the light hit the mountains, the smell of the pine trees... they knew this was it.

What you see today didn't happen overnight, though. It took 'em three years of planning, designing, and honestly, a lot of arguing about what color the curtains should be. Marcus wanted everything to blend with nature, while Isabella was adamant about creating spaces that felt genuinely luxurious. Turns out, they were both right.

We opened our doors in 2010 with just 22 rooms. Now we've grown to 67 rooms and suites, but we've kept that same feeling - like you're staying at someone's really nice house, not just another hotel.

Doing Right By Nature

Here's the thing - we're literally surrounded by some of the most beautiful wilderness in Canada. It'd be pretty hypocritical to not take care of it, right?

We've got solar panels up on the roof (they're not winning any beauty contests, but they work), a grey water recycling system that our guests never even notice, and we partnered with local farms so most of our produce comes from within 50 kilometers. Chef Miguel gets genuinely excited about seasonal menus because he actually knows the people growing his vegetables.

We're also part of this cool program where we're working to become carbon neutral by 2028. It's ambitious, yeah, but if not us, then who?

  • 65% reduction in energy consumption since 2015
  • Zero single-use plastics throughout the property
  • Working with First Nations communities on land stewardship
  • Annual tree planting events (guests love these!)

The Folks Who Make It Happen

Yeah, we've got titles and all that, but really we're just a bunch of people who care way too much about hospitality.

Isabella Chen

Isabella Chen

Co-Founder & Managing Director

Isabella handles the business side but don't let that fool you - she knows every guest by name after one conversation. She's got this incredible memory and genuine warmth that sets the tone for the whole place. When she's not working, you'll find her on the trails with her golden retriever, Sage.

Marcus Chen

Marcus Chen

Co-Founder & Design Director

Marcus is the guy who obsesses over every little detail - the angle of a chair, the height of a countertop, the way light comes through the windows at 4pm. Some might call it perfectionism, but it's why everything here just feels right. He's also surprisingly funny once you get past the serious architect exterior.

Miguel Santos
Chef Miguel Santos

Executive Chef

Miguel trained in France but his heart's always been in farm-to-table cooking. He's passionate, loud in the kitchen, and makes the best wild mushroom risotto you'll ever taste. He's been with us since year one.

Amara Johal
Amara Johal

Spa & Wellness Director

Amara's got this calming energy that just radiates through the whole spa. She's trained in everything from Swedish massage to Ayurvedic treatments, and she's really into holistic wellness - not in a preachy way, just genuinely knowledgeable.

David Park
David Park

Guest Services Manager

David's the guy who somehow finds last-minute reservations at fully booked restaurants and knows the best hiking trails before they get crowded. He's been in Whistler for 15 years and knows absolutely everyone. Seriously, it's kind of impressive.

Our team

More Than Just A Place To Stay

Look, we could tell you about our thread count or the awards we've won, but that's not really what makes this place special. It's the fact that Sarah at the front desk remembers you take your coffee black. It's how the housekeeping staff leaves little notes when they spot your hiking boots and recommends their favorite trails.

We've got about 120 people working here now, and yeah, some have been with us since the beginning. That continuity matters. When your bartender knows your usual, or when the valet remembers you've got that touchy transmission, it's those little things that turn a nice hotel into a place you actually want to come back to.

We're not perfect - no place is. But we're always trying to get better, to be more sustainable, to create experiences that actually matter. And honestly, that's the real story of Pyrethral Quintho. We're a work in progress, just like everyone else.

Come See For Yourself

We've said a lot, but really the best way to understand what we're about is to visit. Whether you're here for a weekend getaway or a longer retreat, we'd love to have you. Just don't expect everything to be perfectly polished - that's not really our style. What you will get is genuine hospitality, beautiful surroundings, and people who actually care about making your stay memorable.
